Floatating FAQ's

A few things clients
normally ask us

Do I need to prepare for my float?

Please come with an open mind as you may be experiencing floating for the first time. To have an optimal experience, we advise to not consume a large meal or caffeine within 1 hour of your scheduled float as digestion may disrupt relaxation.

What do I need to bring?

Floaters can choose to bring their own towel, flip flops and water bottle. You may also want to bring you own hair wax/spray or hair brush for use in our vanity room after your float.

We provide everything else such shower gel and shampoo/conditioner, hairdryer and even straighteners. Although feel free to bring your own if you prefer. There is a £2.00 charge for towel hire.

What do I wear for my float?

To have a better experience with no interference we advise you float with nothing on. However, we recommend swimwear if that makes you feel more comfortable.

How big is the float pod?

Our pod comfortably accommodate persons up to 7 foot 4 inches tall so even the tallest of customers can float with ease and comfort.

What if I am claustrophobic?

The pod is much bigger than most expect and you can float with the lid open or closed, its completely your choice. You can jump in and out as you feel. The pod is designed to make you feel in control and completely at ease. The room is solely yours until you exit and you are in complete control of your environment.

Is the water clean in the floatation pod?

Hygiene is a top priority and we incorporate a first-class system.

After each Float our tank are fully emptied and drained and the water enters an advanced filtration system. During this process cycle all the solution is passed through the two special 1 micron absolute filters, through the super-efficient UV sterilising as well as being auto dosed if the levels of anti-bacterial agents such as H2O2 are below the set safe level. Our tanks guarantee 100% solution processing, ensuring a fresh float each and every time.

Can I drown?

No. Half a tonne of quality Epsom salt in the tank will ensure you remain as buoyant as a cork.

What If I have cuts/abrasions on my skin?

If you have any cuts/abrasions on your skin please inform our float attendant . He/she will provide you with waxelean, a non-petroleum-based barrier for you to apply to prevent the epsom salt from stinging.

Can I cancel/reschedule my appointment?

Yes, call our office to inform us of any cancellation/rescheduling. Please note that we do not refund on any cancellations within 24 hours of your scheduled float.

What happens after the float?

After you end your float, please shower and remove any excess Epsom salts. Once you have changed in to your clothing you can make your way to our vanity room which is fitted with hairdryers and mirrors for you to apply any make-up, face creams or hair spray.

After you have finished in the vanity room, make your way to our relaxation room! Help yourself to water or a choice of hot drinks whilst you reacclimatise, you will feel a true sense of calm and mindfulness. Take advantage and enjoy a variety of books or magazines at your preference. A frozen treat will also be served.

Can I float if I am pregnant?

Absolutely. In fact, it is highly recommended. Pregnant women will feel the benefits of floating more than most for a variety of reasons.

Physical relief
Additional weight carried by the expectant mother can be incredibly stressful on the body, particularly the lower back and spine. Floating releases this tension and offers some temporary relief.

Emotional
There is also the added benefit of “the mirror effect”. When a mother to be floats she is safe and secure, mirroring her baby’s experience inside the womb. Pregnant women have reported that floating provides a heightened connection with their baby.

Improved Sleep
Better sleep is a common benefit from floating and considering all the physical and mental stresses pregnancy may bring, nobody deserves a better night’s sleep than an expectant mother-to-be.

Can I float whilst menstruating?

Please schedule your float for when you are not menstruating.

What if I have dyed hair?

Please do not book a session within 2 weeks of dying your hair.

What if I have had a shave?

We do not advise shaving on the day of your float as the high concentration of epsom salts may sting. If you do have some minor cuts, please let our float attendant know so he/she can provide you with a wax barrier to apply for protection.

Can I float with a friend?

Each Float room is designed for one person only. However, we do have 2 pods so if you would like a simultaneous experience please see our bring a friend offer.
